What Are String Curtains?

The difference between string curtains and more ordinary curtains are that they are made up of numerous hanging strings of material, which when bulked together, form the curtain. The effect this provides is a feeling of openness and space. This makes them perfect for use in smaller rooms, as well as rooms that tend to be dark, as it they some light in. They tend to be made from polyester or rayon, but several different materials can be used to great effect.

Benefits Of String Curtains

Because the curtain is not solid but made up of multiple strings, some air and light are allowed to flow into the room. When drawn, the room takes on a beautiful shaded look, however tantalising streaks of light seep into the room, and if you leave the windows open, enough of the breeze gets through to keep you cool, whilst allowing your some privacy. For this reason, string curtains are perfect for hot countries and summer time. During winter, you can just keep the windows closed.

They are also extremely lightweight due to the material they are made from, and the fact that they are not sheets of material but rather light strings. This makes them very easy to move. All you need to fit them is a hook, ruffle band, or Velcro. Compare this to more conventional curtains which can be heavy, awkward to fit, and give a gloomy enclosed feeling to the room.
